What to do in Lakshadweep?
The Lakshadweep Islands (Laccadive as they were formerly known) are one of the few remaining virgin islands in the world and the only coral reef islands in India. The islands are are a geographical extension of the Maldives island chain.

The soft silvery beaches, the coral atolls built on ancient volcanic formations,  living corals, vast beautiful shallow lagoons, the matchless marine environment and multi-coloured coral fishes makes Lakshadweep a real paradise in Arabian sea.

One can engage in water sports like Kayaking, Canoeing, Snorkeling and Para Sailing. For adventures, there are plenty of opportunities for Scuba diving.  One may also visit local houses, Marine museum, Light House and a few local industries.

When is the best time to visit?
Though the Islands are open round the year, from October to April is the ideal time to visit. The rush of tourists is mainly concentrated from November to March. The monsoon period is from 15 may to 15 September.

Tourist Season:
October - May for the ship based tour packages. Agatti and Bangaram may be visited throughout the year.

Climate:  Lakshadweep has a tropical climate. From 27 to 32 degree Celsius during September to March. From 30 to 33 degree Celsius in April and May.  Water temperature in the lagoon is normally around 25 - 27 degree centigrade.

The temperature during monsoon is between 27 - 30 degrees and water temperature remains at 25 degrees. Though the sea remains rough during monsoon,  the reef which encircles the island, keeps the lagoon calm.  However, due to rough sea, boats do not ply outside the lagoon.

Some effect of the northeast monsoon is felt in October-November in the form of light transitory showers which cool the place.

Clothing: Light cotton tropical clothes are sufficient throughout the year. A waterproof coat is advisable during the monsoons.
